The short version: this website sets no cookies

sortr.uk (and sortr.co.uk) do not set any cookies. No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no social-media trackers, no “performance” cookies, no fingerprinting — and nothing stored in your browser’s local storage either. That is also why you won’t see a cookie banner here: there is nothing to ask your consent for.

We’ll keep it that way unless we tell you otherwise on this page first.

What this website actually does

This website exists to hold the small technical files that let sortr.uk links open the Sortr app on your phone, plus this page and our other information pages. If we add pages telling you more about Sortr, this statement still applies to them. Booking, payments, messaging, and your account all happen in the Sortr app, not on this website.

What about the Sortr app?

The app is a mobile app, not a website, so it doesn’t use browser cookies either. It does keep a small amount of information on your device (for example, the secure token that keeps you signed in). That is explained in the Sortr Privacy Policy and, if optional usage analytics is ever switched on, in the app’s in-app tracking notice — which we would link from this page so there is always one up-to-date place to look.

One exception you’ll never meet: our staff sign-in

Sortr’s internal staff console (a separate, non-public address) sets first-party sign-in cookies for our own team — they keep a staff session signed in securely and protect it against forgery attacks. They are strictly necessary for that console to work, are never used for tracking, advertising, or analytics, and are never set when you browse this website. We mention them only so this statement is complete.

If this ever changes

If we ever add anything to this website that stores or reads information on your device and isn’t strictly necessary — analytics, for example — we will either ask for your consent first with a clear yes/no choice (no pre-ticked boxes, no “by continuing you agree”), or rely on the narrow UK-law exception for first-party statistics, in which case we will explain exactly what is collected and give you a simple, free way to opt out. Either way, this page changes before the website does.
